Norfolk Botanical Gardens Wedding - Alix & Tamara
/I've been holding onto this post for awhile now and I am so excited to finally share Alix & Tamara's wedding day with y'all! AND it was just recently featured on Tidewater and Tulle as well!
I had the awesome opportunity to shoot this beautiful wedding with Samantha Searles Photography at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens over Labor Day weekend. This wedding was originally supposed to be outside but fall weather and hurricane season worked against us with an impending storm. Tamara's mom worked MAGIC though and was able to secure a new indoor venue the week of the wedding. The day of the wedding, the storm held off a bit and we were still able to take beach portraits of Tamara and her bridal party at their beautiful East Beach cottage.
When we got to the Botantical Gardens, the radar was still clear and Tamara & Alix had their first look in the wildflower garden. We adventured around the property for a few more couple's portraits before the ceremony with our fingers crossed for no rain. Since Tamara and Alix lived out of state, they had never even seen the venue until their wedding day and it was so cool to see their reactions when they saw the stunning ceremony location and flower wall back drop.
As the bridal party walked down the aisle, the clouds began to roll in. The Botanical Gardens provided clear umbrellas for all of the guests and one by one, they began to pop up. But it didn't phase Alix or Tamara one bit. Once they jumped the broom we all ran back to the reception hall!
And let's talk about their AMAZING reception decor. Instead of the traditional floral centerpiece, each table had different wedding cakes. Every table! My sweet tooth was so happy by the end of the evening when Tamara's mom asked us to please take a slice of cake home. After dinner, their families and guests danced the night away on the stunning black and white checkered floor. You'll also notice that a few of the groomsmen ditched their attire towards the end of the night too!
Congratulations to Tamara & Alix and thank you to Samantha for allowing me to second shoot this beautiful night!
