Family sessions are slowly becoming a favorite of mine. While it is not the easiest to get kids to pay attention to the camera or to relax around someone new, it is so rewarding when you can get a gummy little smile or a giggle out of them.

I met up with Vicki, Marcus and Gideon at Hickory Ridge Farm in Chesapeake on a golden Sunday evening for their family portrait session. We explored corn mazes, pumpkin patches and climbed all over the hay bales on the farm. Gideon is coming up on his first birthday and was teething so he was a little fussy in the beginning of our session. But, little known fact, lens caps work great as teething rings and distractions. Look carefully and you'll see it in his little hands throughout the blog.
